About Me

A personal page about where I come from, how I became a designer, and what keeps shaping my taste outside of work.

Here I am

I’m Artem, a Ukrainian Product Designer and Art Director currently living in the EU. I was born and raised in Kharkiv, Ukraine, where I spent the first 18 years of my life before starting a new chapter in Europe in 2022. My current chapter is going in Prague, Czech Republic.

Design is the professional part of my life, but the way I see products is shaped by much more than interfaces. Cities, games, anime, technology, architecture, travel, and all the strange little details of everyday life are part of it too.

How I got here

My path into product design did not start with perfectly organized Figma files. I started with freelance work and graphic design, exploring visual systems, interfaces, branding, raster and vector graphics, motion, interiors, and both 2D and 3D visuals. Over time, this mix of disciplines became the foundation of how I think about digital products today.

I studied Computer Graphics & Design at IT Step Academy and later earned a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, focused on project management. Somewhere along the way, I also had a student era with shader graphics, HLSL, and writing basic programs in C++.

After several years of visual and interface work, I moved deeper into product design and art direction. Today, I combine product logic, visual taste, UX thinking, systems, and management to build digital products that feel clear, useful, and visually intentional.

A few facts

I have more than 250 games in my Steam library. Some people call it a backlog. I call it visual and interaction research.

I have watched more than 300 anime titles. I especially like dark fantasy, dystopias, and shonen stories with dramatic stakes and questionable life choices.

I’m also deeply interested in technology, from something basic like smartphones and computers to VR and AR headsets. I currently have two VR headsets, which probably says enough.

I can get equally interested in a product interface, a city metro system, a building facade, a game menu, or a tiny animation that lasts less than a second.

Am I a Traveler?

I love travel and urban exploration. I am very interested in urbanism, infrastructure, architecture, and how cities actually work.

For me, a city is one of the biggest UX systems humans have ever created. Navigation, public transport, signs, streets, habits, flows, noise, comfort, friction, emotion. It is all there, just not inside a screen.

I like visiting countries and understanding them through their architecture, planning, infrastructure, and everyday details. A good city can tell you a lot about history, culture, priorities, and how people are expected to live.

Over the last five years, I have visited around 10+ countries in Europe. Next, I want to explore Asia and the United States. I also have a quiet dream of changing the country I live in every few years, just to collect more life experience from different places.

So what is next??

Over the next 8-10 years, I want to find a country where I would genuinely want to settle and build a more of a permanent life.

At the same time, there are still more than 12 countries on my travel wish list, so the “settle down” part may need to negotiate with the “let’s go somewhere” part.

Professionally, I want to keep growing as a designer, opening new directions for myself, and gaining experience in areas where product design meets technology, systems, storytelling, management, and visual culture.

If we vibe, then let’s connect

I’m always open to the new opportunities!
